GTW stands for Get To Work Inc., an organization founded and geared toward saving and empowering the broader public that are in need of work and may not be able to obtain employment due to the shortage of gainful employment in the City of Chicago. We show that with a bit of assistance that the public is willing and able to work, by showing that through community engagement and rendezvous spirit change can come. The mission is to provide jobs and transportation to underprivileged areas in Chicago , in an attempt to help the broad public establish themselves in communities through working, which leads to housing and other services that are provided when the public is able to gain employment.
GTW was founded by Ms. Jacobs, a retired 30 year veteran officer at the Department of Corrections and long time community leader of the Austin area. The inspiration behind Ms. Jacobs' philanthropy was born over the frustration of her son's inability to find adequate local employment. She turned this frustration around and was able to build great work relationships with companies such as Handi-Foil, Richelieu, Wendy's and Green Core, and provide jobs to those that desperately need employment. She hopes to continue her mission and vision with other companies in the same fashion. The targeted areas that she specialized in has been Austin, North Lawndale, Garfield Park, Tri-Taylor and Englewood.
